I admit it! I'm a flirt

Girl 1: OMG! That girl is a total flirt. How could that cute guy like her?
Girl 2: Yeah, how could he not notice how flirt that girl is?
Girl 1: I just hate how she behaves. She's is such a flirt.

What does flirting mean?

• Merriam Webster defines it as showing superficial or casual interest or liking.
• Wikipedia says that it is a form of human interaction between two people, expressing a romantic and/or sexual interest. It can consist of conversation, body language, or brief physical contact. It may be one-sided or reciprocated.

Ways to flirt (checkout because you may be flirting without you admitting it)

• eye contact, batting eyelashes
• "protean" signals, such as touching one's hair
• casual touches; such as a woman gently touching a man's arm during conversation
• smiling suggestively
• winking
• Sending notes, poems, or small gifts
• flattery
• teasing
• chance meeting
• coyness, affectedly shy or modest, marked by cute, coquettish, or artful playfulness

People who does not appreciate what flirting is find the word obscure. When a girl flirts, people around her would usually look at her as someone indecent. But actually, flirting is a normal behavior. And thus, nobody should be judged or condemned by doing so. It's human nature.

For me, flirting may be intentional and may be considered an unconscious act at times. Actions like shyly looking away, or smiling too excitedly, or putting the hair near the ear may be done by a girl without awareness that she is already flirting. Let us say a girl likes a guy. She noticed that the guy is looking at her. Instinct would tell her not to look directly to the guy. Then she tries to fix her hair by putting some of it behind her ears. Then the guy walks to her and says "hi, you look great in that shirt." Then the girl would give a cute and smile.

So as to continue, flirting is like an intentional or unintentional way of giving signal that you like someone. Flirting does not necessarily mean ending up in bed with the other person. Flirting may be just a step in getting to know a person. It is just like giving signals to the other person that you like him. And liking someone does not necessarily mean that you wanna end up with him. Liking someone could be in form of wanting a new friend, a companion, or a partner.

Going back to the two girls talking about how they hate the girl they call as flirt. I believe these two girls are jealous of her. Just because she's dating the guy and the guy noticed her than the two other girls, then she is judged as a flirt in a negative way. And so what if she really is flirting? That's her right to express and show that she also likes the guy.

I think Filipino girls should now widen their understanding of what flirting is. And that they should admit that all of the girls are. All men and women are. And I think a lot of girls are hypocrites because they would never consider themselves as flirts. Duh? We're all humans here.
